Grayling Design’s first hospitality venture, the Greenwich Hotel, is impressively situated on the corner of Greenwich and N. Moore Streets in the heart of New York City’s Tribeca district. From the bronze medallions modeled on historic manhole covers to the terra-cotta floor tiles inspired by an Italian country estate, this hotel typifies Grayling’s design ethic. As evidenced in the “Greenwich” duplex suite and the public spaces throughout, the palette of materials aptly melds handcrafted details and carefully sourced reclaimed components. In a creative transformation, the Flatiron building’s salvaged glass became a mirrored wall surface, and meticulous craftsmanship reshaped New England barn flooring into a rustic door, among other customized features. A majestic structure of understated elegance, the Greenwich Hotel epitomizes its designers’ creativity.
